Recover Opera wand passwords / How to view saved passwords in Opera wand?

First of all , my full regards to here and here for giving this very useful method. (Tamil's Blog in myopera.com)

Opera is a very secure browser and normally u wont be able to see Saved Passwords unlike Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.(switch to opera immediately).
Here's a way to recover the password u saved since there are chances that u may forget them using Opera Wand(Ctrl+Enter) again and again.
Here's how :   First of all try this, this will not work if
  • URL of login page changes.
  • User name and/or password form field name changes.

In such times you should use third party tool to recover the forgotten passwords.

Method (Using JavaScript)
  1. Go to http://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/forms.html page, right click on View Passwords button, select Bookmark Link... and add.
  2. Open login page of site you want to view password and make sure login form fields are highlighted by wand in yellow color. Press keyboard shortcut, Ctrl+Enter (or click wand button) and then Esc key quickly.
  3. Open View Passwords bookmarklet from bookmarks to view password.

Now, if this thing does not help ur cause, use third party tool to recover ur password.

Another Way (Opera Pass View)

OperaPassView is a small password recovery tool that decrypts the content of the Opera Web browser password file, wand.dat and displays the list of all Web site passwords stored in this file. You can easily select one or more passwords in the OperaPassView window, and then copy the passwords list to the clipboard or save it into text/html/csv/xml file.

If wand is protected by master password OperaPassView won't show passwords. Disable Tools > Advanced > Security > Use master password to protect saved passwords to view passwords.

Hope it helps u out. Be Ethical and don't misuse it.

  2. Excellent. Thanks so much! Would have been so lost if you hadn't added the bit about needing to clear the master password.
